Simple is an illusion for the most part. Sure, there are individuals that are content with just existing, serving the status quo, but far more human beings ache for the taste of more than you might think. We've just been taught to shut those parts of us down, to view them as wrong or not in alignment with how life is "supposed to" be.

And while it is true that age doesn't really matter when it comes to experiences, you are correct that it is always there, a marker of who, what, and where you "should" be...my advice is to eliminate "should" from your vocabulary and live each day as it's own mini-lifetime.
