This is so disheartening. I am still a fledgling writer, trying to figure out my voice and who would like to read what — I was late to joining the Medium platform, but was ecstatic for my first $10 and had high hopes of growing an audience…these past few months have been rough as I’m not sure anyone even sees what I write since I am still in subscriber double digits.

I want to write and have people read what I write — the money part is great, but it’s not the motivating factor for me.

But, what’s the point of working hard, putting my creativity to the test, and pouring my soul into something if no one sees it?

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it even matter if it makes a noise?

Not really.

I’m curious, what other platforms do you think might be worth checking out? Is there anywhere a newbie can still build an audience? Is it just plain old fashioned greed that makes people turn their backs on the creators they originally wanted to support?
